Take That Dennis Rodman, Trump Meets Kim In The DMZ

- Juni 30, 2019

In just a blink of an eye, the 45th President of the United States became the most famous American to ever step foot in North Korea and topple Dennis Rodman for that honor.

Who would have thunk it?

In the clearest example of the new phrase “Twitter Diplomacy” ever coming to fruition Donald Trump met North Korean dictator Kim Jung-un at the DMZ earlier today and actually crossed over into North Korea to become the first U.S. President to ever do so.

According to Fox News

Trump became the first sitting U.S. president to step foot inside the Hermit Kingdom.

“I was proud to step over the line,” Trump told Kim later, inside the Freedom House on the South Korea side, according to the Associated Press. “It is a great day for the world.”

Kim appeared pleased by the meeting, the report said.

“I believe this is an expression of his willingness to eliminate all the unfortunate past and open a new future,” Kim said of Trump, according to the AP. He added that he was “surprised” when Trump extended the invitation on Saturday.

The North Koreans have so far shown that they are still playing the game that they used in the 90’s when they shook the United States for hundreds of millions of dollars giving promises they never kept. Trump so far has not played that game with money but has allowed Kim to benefit with these photo ops.

How long this can continue with no real strategic breakthrough in negotiations? If it were up to me it would be now. Now with this third meeting if the North does not play ball there is simply no reason for another meeting or invite to the White House. They have not done anything to warrant it. Allow Mike Pompeo to do what he does well and get a deal in place that can be enforced before even another phone call is exchanged between the two leaders.

Even Trumps detractors will have to concede that he knows how to maximize a public relations opportunity and this one event will probably get a whole wing at the future Donald Trump Presidential Library.

Look for Dennis Rodman spending a lot of time there shaking his head wondering how he in a blink of an eye no longer was the most famous American to visit the North.

So. Sad.
