The Maryland man who lit himself on fire near the White House on Wednesday has died from injuries sustained during the act of self-immolation.
Arnav Gupta, 33, of Maryland was admitted to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after the fire had been extinguished.

That picture is insane! It's a real shame that he took his own life to make some sort of statement and now that he is gone nobody even knows what the statement was. All for nothing. pic.twitter.com/YW1zUsABfl

A law enforcement source told the Gateway Pundit that the man suffered from mental health issues and had previously expressed suicidal ideations. There does not appear to have been any mention of it being an act of protest.

A motive for the suicidal act has not yet been made public, but family members had reported him missing earlier in the day. They had contacted the police expressing concern for his “physical and emotional welfare.”
A man in an electric scooter also lit himself on fire outside the White House last month, but survived.
