The directors of “Game of Thrones” are so meticulous that they refused to use artificial lighting on the series’ biggest battle to date, which drew massive complaints from viewers who found episode two — “The Long Night” — so dark they couldn’t see what was going on.
But they missed one big detail in episode three, which is titled “The Last Of The Starks.” Make that “The Last Of The Starbucks.”
At one point during the show, which aired Sunday on HBO, Daenerys is seated at a table, sipping wine. Attentive viewers, though, saw what appears to be a coffee cup from Starbucks — and they went on social media to espresso a latte of anger.
You're telling me they had TWO YEARS to put together a decent show and they couldn't even spot the goddamn Starbucks cup in Winterfell??!?! #GameOfThrones pic.twitter.com/8opg7nyydv

The internet piled on.
GoT cinematographer: i know there are exactly the right amount of starbucks cups in the shot bc i shot it https://t.co/MKW5ifKKtb

Daenerys is, of course, known as Khaleesi, but other nicknames, too, like the First of Her Name, Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Protector of the Seven Kingdoms. That prompted one wag to write on Twitter: “Daenerys Targaryen mother of dragons, the unburnt, the breaker of chains, the drinker of Starbucks.”

There were, as always, a few conspiracy theories.
1. After last week's #GameOfThrones, the cinematographer had to fight off criticism that it was too dark and people couldn't see.
2. So this week he inserts an offending Starbucks cup into dark scene.
3. People spot the cup, cinematographer vindicated.https://t.co/V2Xx05BatT

Baristas at Starbucks will no doubt have to learn how to spell Daenerys name.

Some people said viewers just needed to adjust their TVs, like they had to in episode two.
“A lot of the problem is that a lot of people don’t know how to tune their TVs properly to make coffee cups disappear.” #GameofThrones pic.twitter.com/Wo812mzzAv

And Jenna Guillaume had a final thought for the directors.
maybe if they lit the show better they'd be able to spot their own basic mistakes #GameOfThrones pic.twitter.com/GzAx4Jkqts
