Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) issued a statement Sunday calling on President Donald Trump to take down a video contrasting footage of the September 11, 2001 Islamist terror attacks on the United States with a comment by Rep. Ilhan Omar made last month before a Muslim audience in which she dismissed the attack as “Some people did something.” Pelosi called Trump’s video “disrespectful and dangerous” and said she had directed the Sergeant-at-Arms to conduct a security assessment for Omar, her staff and family.
Appearing on ABC’s This Week on Sunday morning before Pelosi spoke out, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders defended Trump’s video, saying Trump does not wish ill will or violence against Omar.
Asked about President Trump's attack on Rep. Ilhan Omar, Sarah Sanders tells @GStephanopoulos, Omar's comments are "absolutely disgraceful and unbefitting of a member of Congress and I think that it's a good thing that the president is calling her out" https://t.co/a1tf3ubh7D pic.twitter.com/1Ixdb0cYN4

Omar made her 9/11 comment in a speech to CAIR (the Council on American Islamic Relations) on March 23 in California. Omar falsely claimed that CAIR was founded after 9/11 to protect Muslim civil liberties. CAIR was actually founded in 1994 as a front group for Hamas, according to reports on federal surveillance at the time of CAIR’s founding.
Pelosi issued a statement with a dateline of London, England, that reads:
