Of Course They Did… House Dems Nominate Pelosi For Speaker Amid Rebellion

- November 29, 2018

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is one step closer to taking back the gavel in January when the Democrats take back control of the House.

Nancy Pelosi, 78, ran unopposed as the nominee to be House Speaker and the Dems overwhelmingly chose her to be their leader in a closed-door caucus Wednesday.

Pelosi’s road to 218 votes in January will be tough however, given the schism in the Democrat party.

A significant portion of the Democrat party is demanding newer, younger leadership.

There is a schism in the Democrat party as newcomers such as radical Communist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and anti-Israel incoming Congresswoman Ilhan Omar stake their claims.

Last week, sixteen House Democrats vowed in a letter to stop Pelosi from becoming House Speaker again.

Pelosi is not Speaker-elect, she is Speaker-designate at this point and still needs to reach the 218 threshold when there is a Speaker vote on the House floor in January, says Chad Pergram.

The vote breakdown via Fox News’ Chad Pergram: Speaker candidate, 203-32. Three blanks. 238 Members voted. Keep in mind there are non-voting delegates to Congress who vote in this race. 203 voted “yes” for Pelosi. 32 voted “no” for Pelosi There were three banks.
