The Senate may vote on a bill to protect Special Counsel Robert Mueller in order to make sure President Trump’s judicial nominees are installed.
Lawmakers are planning on attaching legislation to protect Mueller to a high-priority spending bill.
This potential logjam on Trump’s judicial nominees is thanks to RINO of all RINOs, Jeff Flake.
A couple weeks ago, outgoing Arizona Senator Jeff Flake vowed to withhold his vote for any judicial nominees until legislation protecting dirty cop Robert Mueller is brought for a vote.
“I have informed the Majority Leader that I will not vote to advance any of the 21 judicial nominees pending in the Judiciary Committee or vote to confirm the 32 judges awaiting confirmation on the Senate floor until S.2644 is brought to the full Senate for a vote,” Flake said.
Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn (R-TX) said Tuesday on Hugh Hewitt’s radio show that the Senate could vote on a spending bill with legislation attached to protect Mueller.
“There is a possibility we will have a vote on the so-called Mueller protection bill. But I think there really is some serious constitutional issues on that, and I certainly don’t support it. I don’t think the president’s going to fire Bob Mueller. We are checking with our members now to see exactly… how it would come out. It may be that he does get that opportunity,” Cornyn said.
According to Politico, John Cornyn told reporters Tuesday morning that Republicans are willing to hold a vote “if that’s what it’s going to take” to move more judicial nominees.
“We are whipping the bill to see where people are, to give us an idea of what the outcome would be. That’s the leaders call. … its entirely up to Sen. McConnell,” Cornyn added.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) previously announced he will not support a bill to protect Special Counsel Robert Mueller.
