REMINDER: Iran May Have Lied, But The Obama Administration May Have As Well

- Mei 01, 2018

As both Grant Gambling and Streiff covered at this site earlier today, Israel has somehow procured a whole cache of documents they say prove incontrovertibly that Iran was always interested in building a nuclear aresenal despite their assurances during Obama’s Iran deal negotiations that their nuclear ambitions were largely peaceful and never meant to lead toward the manufacture of weapons.

According to Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, his new treasure trove of documents prove that Iran was lying about that: he says they were after the weaponry all along.

On Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he has new documents revealing that “after signing the nuclear deal in 2015, Iran intensified its efforts to hide its secret nuclear files.”

But it’s important to remember, as more information comes out as it surely will over the coming days and weeks — Netanyahu’s stash is reportedly large, comprising a literal half-ton of documents — that Iran may have lied about their nuclear ambitions, but the Obama administration, in selling their willingness to strike the deal to the American people, may also have lied.

Take it away, Twitter:

It will be interesting to see if Obama officials who were familiar with the details of the deal disavow knowledge of Iran’s true goals (assuming they are what Netanyahu suggests they are) and claim they were honest actors duped by a dishonest regime.
