On Saturday Florida Republican lawmaker Bill Hager called on Gov. Scott to fire Israel, reported The Gateway Pundit’s Jim Hoft.
“As a result of the media reports coming out showing the gross incompetence of the @browardsheriff, I am calling on @FLGovScott to remove sheriff Israel from his post. We must also modernize our law enforcement agencies to ensure that such a catastrophic breakdown in communication never occurs again,” tweeted Hager.

In the meantime, Gov. Scott has ordered the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to probe local police’s response to the shooting.

Former NYPD officer and Florida GOP insider John Cardillo says Gov. Scott ordering the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to probe the police’s response is “the first step in removing a Sheriff for malfeasance or incompetence.”
