A man from La Crosse, Wisconsin, received 1,440 hours of community service after pleading guilty earlier this year to throwing roofing nails onto the driveways of residents who supported GOP candidates following his lawn sign being stolen . . .
The man, Martin Sellers, 59, was ordered to pay $5,000 in restitution after pleading “no contest” to two counts of “disorderly conduct in La Crosse County Circuit Court,” according to Madison.com.
Circuit Judge Ramona Gonzalez stayed a six-month jail sentence for Sellers.
Five homeowners reported for three years leading up to Sellers’ sentencing that they were dealing with the roofing nails in their driveways. Sellers stated that he would target driveways of homes that had signs supporting GOP candidates, citing his “anger for the political system” as his motivation.
One of the homeowners mentioned that the vandalism continued following the inauguration of President Trump. Another homeowner installed surveillance cameras and caught Sellers’ vehicle with the footage. A third homeowner reported that they had to replace four tires on their car following Sellers’ outbursts.
